CONTROL OF EXPLOSIVES PRECURSORS AND POISONS REGULATIONS 2023 – THE HOME OFFICE

06 Feb 2024
Arena 2
SPATEX Seminars

This presentation is brought to you by members of the Home Office, based in the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive (CBRNE) Unit, which is responsible for leading policy work across government to counter CBRNE terrorism threats, and to support the Homeland Security Group (HSG) policy leads in delivering counter terrorism and national security objectives. Specifically the team work to prevent and detect terrorist acquisition of substances (chemical, biological, radiological and explosive) and to reduce the vulnerability of sites holding them.

As of 1st October 2023 regulations around explosives precursors and poisons as defined in the Poisons Act 1972 were tightened. This was in response to the Manchester arena bombing where 22 innocent people lost their lives in May 2017 and the Parsons Green attempted attack of the same year. This presentation will provide members with a refresh of those legislation changes, an opportunity to ask questions to the team and an overview of what the Home Office Explosives Precursors Engagement Team do and how they may be able to help your business with implementing changes and being compliant.
