Friends of Jubilee Pool breathe the difference with new Artis 350
Jubilee Pool in Bristol, a local art deco landmark, opened in 1937 and is now Bristol’s first community-run swimming pool and gym. The pool hall environment was suboptimal due to an undersized air handling unit (AHU); this meant that swimmers were experiencing an unpleasant atmosphere and the fabric of this historic building was deteriorating.
At the site survey, the Recotherm team recognised that the specifics of this site required a bespoke unit in order to create the desired atmosphere. In addition, the unit would need to be delivered as flat pack elements due to vehicle size restrictions outside the building.
The Recotherm team tailored an Artis 350 unit to deliver the short and long term requirements that Jubilee Pool required. They were also able to deliver the unit in flat packed elements with their in-house specialists building the unit on site.
The moment the new Artis 350 unit was switched on, the project funders, Friends of Jubilee Pool, could immediately breathe the difference.
Martin Cosnett, Operations Director at Hockley Mechanical & Electrical Services Ltd who carried out the installation of the ductwork and heating system for the new AHU stated:-
“It was a shame to see such a beautiful historic building suffer from the damage caused by the lack of proper ventilation and heating. The new Recotherm unit was perfect for the job. It will make for a much more comfortable environment for swimmers and staff and prevent further damage to the building while reducing the carbon footprint due to being much more economical to run.”
The Friends of Jubilee Pool are delighted:
“The pool hall environment was in dire need of a new unit, however we didn’t expect there to be such a dramatic change in environment once the new system was up and running.”
