Spa Parts Vortex Announce Strategic Split from Spafix

Spa Parts Vortex Announce Strategic Split from Spafix
As of January 5th, 2024, the original member of the Vortex Distribution family (Spafix) is going it alone. In a strategic move that will be to the lasting benefit of both Spafix and Spa Parts Vortex; the companies are now under separate ownership and separate premises.

Spa Parts Vortex, a leading supplier of Hot Tubs, Heat Pumps and Spare Parts to the spa and hot tub industry, made the decision to streamline its operations and further enhance its commitment to the trade sector. While Spa Parts Vortex transitioned to a trade-only model in 2013, it has maintained ownership of Spafix, who offer a range of breakdown and maintenance services as well as hot tubs to retail clientele.

As part of this separation, the employees of Spafix have taken a significant step by acquiring the company from its parent company. The entity has been run almost entirely by its internal management team since 2020, this has enabled the staff to learn and master all aspects of the business. The management buyout has enabled the long serving staff members an opportunity to grow the business and take it independently in a new direction. Spafix will continue to supply some technical and warranty services to Spa Parts Vortex on a sub-contract basis.

This strategic shift aligns with Spa Parts Vortex core values; a dedication to meeting the unique needs of trade professionals in the industry, supply goods in a speedy manner and not to compete with its valued customers.

Darren Waters, Managing Director, says:

“I have to say, this day comes with a little feeling of sadness as this is where it all started. All those years ago, getting the money together for my first van, racking it out myself with a jigsaw on my driveway. Then the feeling of sheer joy as I picked it up from the sign-writers. There in big bold letters, SPAFIX.

But, in truth, I held on to this business for much longer than I should have. I was lucky that I had such an amazing bunch of people running it. When every member of the team has served 7 years or more, it tells you they loved working for the company and what it stands for. So, I suppose the sentimental value stopped me parting ways sooner.

This, however, is a new chapter for both businesses. For me personally I am very excited with our plans for Spa Parts Vortex. Moving to new premises, new software and infrastructure, recruiting at a time when others may be cutting back. A program to drive product development and growth of our product portfolio. New models in our Earth Spas line up and every possibility of a swim spa in 2024. Plans are underway to open in a new territory… more news to follow.

I’m thrilled for the team at Spafix, they’ve earned this opportunity and I wish them every success for the future.”
