Martin Killen is the Managing Director of Recotherm Ltd. He is a qualified environmental engineer with vast experience in heating, ventilating and air conditioning the built environment. In 1985 he started Recotherm with a  colleague to specialise in providing energy efficient swimming pool ventilation systems. 

Most of the work was with large leisure centres with units that incorporated a combination of fresh air and dehumidification, via a refrigerate base system, which had become popular during the oil crisis of the 1970’s.  By 1990 Martin had developed a new approach to ventilating swimming pools by using controlled fresh air, this formed the basis for all Recotherm units, and has been copied by other manufacturers. Recotherm were asked in 1992 to design a unit for the domestic market based on the fresh air principle and have been successfully selling to the pool trade ever since.
