Increase in ISPE Study Course Applications from Women

Following the launch of ISPE’s Women in Pool Engineering campaign, we’re pleased to report some encouraging progress.

Since the promotion began, 40% of all new student applications have come from women. While this isn’t a seismic shift, it’s a significant and positive step forward for an institution where women currently make up only around 10% of the membership. The campaign, originally launched as a short-term initiative to mark International Women’s Day, offered free enrolment and registration for women joining the ISPE Study Course or applying for membership. Recognising the need for sustained action, the full offer has now been extended until 30th June. From 1st July 2025, the campaign will transition into a 20% discount on Study Course fees for women, continuing ISPE’s commitment to encouraging greater female participation and representation in the swimming pool engineering sector.

Kim Mumford Recognised as a Fellow (FISPE)

In further good news for women in the industry, Kim Mumford, a former ISPE Council Member and long-standing filtration workshop tutor, has been voted in as a Fellow of the Institute – the first woman to receive this prestigious honour. Kim’s tireless dedication to industry education and her many years of service to ISPE have earned her deep respect across the sector.

Her recognition as a Fellow marks an important milestone and highlights the impact and leadership women bring to the pool industry. We hope role models like Kim will inspire more women to take the plunge, join ISPE, and explore the many opportunities available in this rewarding and dynamic industry.
